Preposition

Preposition shows the connections in meaning between a noun or noun phrase and the rest of the sentence.

Preposition are said to govern the nouns or noun phrases are said to be the objects of the prepositions.The word preposition means"that which is placed before".

Prepositions are of three kinds

1. Simple prepositions

At, by, for, from, in, of, off, on, out, through, till, to, up, with, etc.

2.  Compound prepositions


about, above, across, along, amidst,among, around, before, behind, below, beneath,beside, beyond, inside, outside, underneath, within, without, etc.

3. Phrase Prepositions

according to, because of , in accordance with , in addition to, in order to , for the sake of , by means of, along with, away from, on account of, with reference to, with regard to, in spite of, in front of, in course of, in favour of, by way of, on behalf of , instead of etc.
